A Message from the Executive Director
Every day our lives are touched by our nation’s health care system. Whether a child visiting the ER, a parent transitioning to an assisted living facility, or a grandparent entering a nursing home, health care is critical to our society. And access to affordable, quality health care has become an increasingly important component of our nation’s well-being. For over 40 years, the Committee on Healthcare Financing has worked to help expand, preserve, and protect the Federal Government’s mortgage loan programs that provide affordable financing to our health care providers.
Since the 1980s, the Committee on Healthcare Financing has worked closely with the banking industry, the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), Congress, and other government agencies to fully realize the mission that Congress gave HUD in the 1960s—to make affordable financing available for urgently needed hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities. Through our commitment and dedication to HUD’s Section 232 and Section 242 loan insurance programs, the Committee has provided mortgage and investment bankers with a voice in Washington, D.C. to ensure that these vital loan programs stay relevant and effective.
The Committee’s philosophy has always been to focus on what is best for the Federal Government’s health care loan programs to enable future generations to benefit from them. We take great pride in the fact that the HUD Section 232 and Section 242 loan programs operate with consistently low default rates and generate revenue for the Federal Government. So, if you are interested in becoming involved in government-enhanced health care financing, please join us as we work to provide quality, affordable financing for our nation’s health care providers.
